Day 69: Rain

After almost a week of extremely hot and humid days, a mild yet steady rainstorm finally came and cooled things down a bit. It was a nice sort of rain with big drops--nothing severe. It was quite calming and therapeutic... much like today's verse.

My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:
Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.
He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

~Deuteronomy 32:2-4 (KJV)

These are actually the words of Moses, but to me, this is the perfect metaphor of God's Word--a gentle rain that comes down and lightly touches everything and makes it grow. Some things grow faster than others, but that's okay. As verse 4 says, God's work is perfect. God knows exactly what He has planned for each of His little "seedlings," and He will tend each one individually according to its needs. Remember, treating everyone fairly does NOT mean treating everyone the same. Just as a pea plant and an apple tree require different kinds of tending, so do people. Another good example is that you can't treat a cold the same way you would treat a broken arm. Also, one good watering just isn't enough; after a while, the plants will start to shrivel up. You need to keep watering on a regular basis. Just praising God once isn't enough. Just reading a bit of God's Word once just isn't enough. If any of us (myself included) expect to grow as one of His children, we need to keep studying and praising and praying. But at the same time, don't worry! God loves all of us little "seedlings," and He will take care of all of us according to our individual needs.

Lord, thank You for today. It was a wonderful day! Thank You for the rain! Hopefully it will cool things down to a bearable temperature. Hehe. Lord, thank You for my family, friends, and pets; please watch over them, bless them, and keep them safe, strong, happy, and healthy. Please watch over the defenders of Your name and this country; please watch over them and bless them with courage and strength and please bring them home safe. Please watch over their families as well, and bless them with comfort and strength in times of separation and/or loss. Please watch over those who are misguided, misjudged, mistaken, mistreated, misunderstood, sick, scared, lost, or confused; and I ask that You please bless them with good family members and friends whom You can work through to reach those in need. Lord, I ask that You please let us be forever mindful of those who are less fortunate, and may we give them support and a hand up whenever possible. Please cleanse me of my sins and continue to guide me down Your path. Please help me to become a better person: one who is patient, kind, strong, charitable, supportive, faithful, and loving (among many other good things). Lord, I ask that You please continue to guide my studies of Your Word, and that You please open my eyes and the eyes of my heart to Your Word and its meaning. Lord, please guide me to do whatever it is You have planned for me--I will GLADLY do it! I hope that someday I can witness to others. Lord, just as it says in Deuteronomy 32:4, You are indeed the Rock, and You are indeed MY Rock! I wouldn't be here without You. Lord, I love You with all of my heart and soul, and I ALWAYS will! I will follow You forever, Lord, no matter what. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Love and God Bless,
M.C.
